Travel Gear - Packing Tips

Wheeled Backpack – A wheeled backpack is an essential unless you are going 5-star all the way, you will be happy you can carry everything you brought on your back. There are going to be times when the taxi can’t get closer than a 10-minute walk to the train station because of the crowds and you have to get out and march. If you have a private car then driver always help you with the bags.

Female Travelers Packing Hacks

A lot of his section dependent on how long your trip is and what destinations you are visiting. But regardless of that you always want to capture the best memories. 

Smart Phone: Everyone has one in the pocket. Perfect for keeping up with your friends and family, using maps to navigate around your destination, and taking quick photos. We are sure you don’t need our guidance to choose a smart phone.

A Good Camera:  A ‘good’ camera is entirely subjective and will depend on how serious you are about photography. If you are a photography lover then a spare memory card is a must.

Noise Cancelling Headphones: For planes, trains or cars, when you don’t want to irritate your life out of the noise around you and wants to have a you time with your favourite music tracks!

Laptop: If your job revolving around a website, a laptop is an absolute necessity, but it really isn’t necessary for travelers on short trips.

Adapter Plug:  Pack a Multi-Adapter and make sure you’ve got all bases covered. There’s nothing worse than having tech you can’t charge!

Power Bank: Power banks are a must to keep your phone and camera alive.

Packing List for Vacation - travel medications

  • Any prescription medications – with the pertinent information from the box cut out and kept with the medication. This is mandatory for an international travel pack list.
  • A travel first aid kit will usually contain band aids, antiseptic wipes, bandages, gauze, small scissors and tape/pins. An invaluable addition to a travel packing list.
  • Imodium (for any tummy upsets from new foods)
  • Paracetamol (for pain & fever relief)
  • Anti-inflammatory Medication 
  • Cold and Flu Tablets
  • Antihistamines/Allergy medication
  • Motion sickness Tablets
  • Antibacterial Ointment

TRAVEL SECURITY

It is always a good idea to have a safe place/secret pocket where you can store important documents whilst you are traveling.

Money Belt: A money belt is perfect for overnight train travel or long overland travel days where you are carrying all your worldly possessions

  • RFID Wallet: Keep your passport and 1 credit card inside this RFID Blocking Travel wallet at all times.
  • Cable Travel Lock: Personal combination locks are perfect for locking up your bag before checking it in.
  • Good quality suitcase locks and cable. You will need to be able to use the cable to lock your bag to your train if its on the list travel by train.

Travel Comfort - Travel Packing Checklist

If you’re going to be on the road for an extended or short period of time. The following travel accessories will keep you easy in every possible mode of transport and will help you grab the nap you’ve been craving.

  • Travel Pillow
  • Eye Mask & Ear Plugs: wear your eye mask. Put in your ear plugs. Block out the light and sound to drift off to sleep.
  • Tangle Teezer:  Compact and get rid of knots without ripping the hair.
  • Moisturizer & Lip BalmSometimes your body just needs a little help when traveling through different climates.
  • Water bottle and small thermos.
  • A daypack and/or a small-ish bag you can carry very easily and safely.
  • A pen: for filling in forms or jotting down notes. You should always have a pen in your bag. 

Minimalist Packing - Travel Outfit

This is predominately a packing list for women, and clothing and the amount of clothes you need to pack will be variable dependent on your destinations in India and how long you intend on traveling for, but a minimal capsule wardrobe would include the following: Psst. keep scrolling down for my free printable packing list for travel.

  • Lightweight clothing that can be layered
  • Couple of Long-sleeved shirt(s) if you are travelling in winters or going to hills.  
  • Sweaters or fleece jacket for winters and hills
  • Couple of T-shirts and tank tops (take a couple that have sleeves to be respectful of the Indian culture.
  • Travel Pants  or shorts depends on the season you are visiting India.
  • Dresses and/or skirts for beautiful evenings.
  • 1 x pair of jeans is must where ever you go
  • Sports Bra
  • Yoga Pants & Sports Top
  • Pyjamas/sleepwear
  • Belt
  • Underwear, Bras & Socks
  • A pair of Comfortable sturdy walking shoes/athletic shoes, a pair of flip flops for the beach, in the shower, around your hotel and in other predictable settings. and a pair of dress/going out shoes if you have any plan to go for dinner in a nice restaurant.
  • Sunglasses and glasses case
  • Jewellery – pack your favourite pieces carefully in an organiser.
  • Hat or sun visor
  • 2x Scarf or bandana, if no space then India has good ones and easily available.
  • 1-2 Swimwear, if travelling to beach then very useful and your hotel can also have a swimming pool.

PLUS: It is not really a good idea to wear scanty clothes in India. it is advisable to wear modest clothes. We recommend bringing very few items of clothing and making a beeline for Indian stuff. Indian clothes are inexpensive, colourful, comfortable and they suit the climate and the culture. You can also by any international brand, just name it and get it easily.

Organize your travel documents

You’re not going to get far without these essential travel documents:

  • Passport
  • Personal ID/Student ID card – If you’re a student, you never know if you get a good deal or offer.
  • Cash and credit card(s) – Call your credit card companies before you travel to inform them of your travel and try to carry 1 debit card and 2 different credit cards in separate bags/pockets/travel wallet in case one gets damaged or doesn’t work.
  • Frequent flyer card(s) and other loyalty program card numbers (it’s best if you can find one program and stick with it instead of jumping between them)
  • Travel insurance
  • Reservations, itineraries or pre-printed boarding pass – try and keep an electronic copy of all documents too.
  • Hotel and/or tour contact information
  • Transportation tickets (plane, train, bus, car, etc.)
  • Emergency contacts and important addresses
